Sim.ai joins the catalogue: open-source agent workspaces vs Zapier, Make, n8n and Cursor
We added Sim (sim.ai) and refreshed Zapier, Make, n8n, Cursor, ChatGPT and Claude listings with verified public drift — how UK buyers should shortlist agent and automation stacks.
Why this matters
UK service businesses are past the “try a chatbot” phase. The live question is how to run agents and automations without losing control of data, cost, or approval gates.
This week we added Sim (sim.ai) to the digitalbydefault.ai marketplace and refreshed several high-traffic automation listings so buyers are not shortlisting on stale facts.
What Sim actually is
Sim positions itself as an open-source AI workspace to build, deploy, and manage agents across 1,000+ integrations and major LLMs — visually or with code.
Public product surfaces include:
- Agent workflows (logic you can see and edit)
- Knowledge bases, tables, and shared files
- Logs so runs are inspectable
- Cloud plans (Free, Pro ~$25/user/mo, Max ~$100/user/mo, Enterprise) plus self-host options
GitHub lists the project under `simstudioai/sim` (Apache-2.0) with a large star count — treat stars as interest, not proof of production fitness. Always verify licence, hosting model, and security defaults against your own requirements.
Who it is for: technical operators who want agent-first automation without a single closed vendor stack.
Who should skip: teams that only need a few simple SaaS-to-SaaS Zaps and will not operate workflows or hosting.

We do not claim a full re-audit of every catalogue app in one pass. We did check public product/pricing pages for material drift on tools buyers already compare:

How to shortlist without getting lost
1. Simple SaaS glue → Zapier first
2. Complex branching, no code → Make
3. Internal automation infrastructure / self-host → n8n
4. Agent workspace with multi-LLM + knowledge → evaluate Sim
5. Codebase agentic coding → Cursor (separate job-to-be-done from ops automation)
If two tools overlap, pick the one your team will own — monitoring, credentials, and human approval — not the one with the longest feature list.
Bottom line
Sim is a credible addition for buyers building agent workspaces with open-source and multi-model options. It does not replace Zapier for simple glue, or Cursor for IDE coding. It does fill a gap between no-code automation and full custom agent platforms.
We will keep refreshing high-traffic listings as public pricing and product surfaces change. Full catalogue rewrites without evidence are noise; evidence-backed deltas are the point of this marketplace.
